April showers bring May flowers

Water is the most important building element in the construction of a biological pool; thus, it is a binding resource for transforming a lined pit into a swimming pond that reflects on its water mirror the environment, the sky with its clouds, trees, gardens, and surrounding houses.

The availability of water on a property, if not from the public network, depends on this hidden underground resource, the water table. Whether it’s well water, spring water, or water from a water mine, it’s there because rainwater infiltrated previously, recently, or in historical times, and recharged the various groundwater levels where it is stored. Any area with dense vegetation covering the ground helps in this task, especially large native forests. Thus, we realize that rain is our ally because it provides a very important resource that is completely free.

After this harsh and very rainy winter, nobody wants a thousand rains next April, as the Portuguese tip says (Abril, águas mil). But the freatic levels recharged with plenty of water provide security for those who use water from these resources.
