Converting an existing pool into a biological pool is something that seems simple and logical, but there are some challenges in the planning and construction phase.

Transforming an old, dilapidated pool is less delicate. Often, the condition and age of the building itself require drastic interventions or renovations. The opposite is the case with a newly built pool, noble finishes and an elegant, well-thought-out design. Then the challenge is much bigger, because on the one hand we don’t want to damage what is pre-existing and on the other hand we have a self-obligation not to intervene more than is absolutely necessary. A great responsibility.

But as they say: he who doesn’t dare, doesn’t win! Working with great care, allows the desired project to be created, with all the advantages idealized by the owner. Keep the existing pool basin, including all finishes in good condition such as mosaic stone tiles, replace equipment with more modern and economical ones, and add a biological treatment system to ensure you never swim in chlorinated water again. In this specific case, another basin was created, with the same appearance, right next to the existing elevated pool. This new basin houses aquaculture with macrophyte plants. An external biofilter is discreetly hidden behind the wooden palisade.

The result speaks for itself. The set seems designed for the purpose, the biologically treated water is crystal clear and the plants beautify the water surface. A very beautiful biological pool, for hot baths in summer and cold ones in winter.
