A decade of pure enjoyment

A decade of pure enjoyment in the waters of the biological pool at Club Med Albufeira. This is our most-used commercial biological pool throughout the year. During the resort’s peak season, it accommodates as many as 250 people per day.

The biological pool was inaugurated in 2016, following a construction period of just eight weeks. The project is located on the site of the hotel’s former golf practice course, which had been decommissioned at the time due to low demand. With its ample outdoor space and the natural shade provided by large stone pines, it proved to be the ideal location to implement a biological pool designed for a high volume of users.

Over the last decade, the designers at Bio Piscinas, Lda. have monitored the development and performance of the installation through periodic site visits. This has allowed for the accumulation of extensive data on this commercial-use biological pool – ranging from monthly bacteriological data and chemical water composition to the growth and biodiversity of the aquatic plant species. This valuable information has since influenced the planning of many other biological pools in Mediterranean climates.
