The 11th edition of the International Conference for Biological Pools took place at the Hotel-Resort Club Med da Balaia in Albufeira, Portugal, and received 130 visitors from 17 nations. For the first time, IOB and GIABN, organizers of the congress, chose a Congress Hotel that is equipped with a biological pool, in this case a project designed by us.

Companies related to Piscinas biológicas group in Portugal also contributed to the conference program, Claudia and Udo Schwarzer with several presentations. A guided tour was made and the designers of Bio Piscinas Lda. explained details of design, configuration and dimensioning, accompanied by Eng. Pedro Couto from SHB, Lda., responsible for the execution for this project.  Marielle Godefroy and Jules Quéré from aquatic plant nursery showed their colleagues the huge diversity of species cultivated for our projects in Portugal. And there was also a workshop with the SHB cleaning and maintenance team that showed the divers in full action.

Colleagues from companies that work professionally in the area really enjoyed having the object of interest so close. During the conference there was the chance to bathe in the biological pool and enjoy the beautiful environment in which it is located. For three days the biological pool was focus of interest of our colleagues. A new perspective has opened up for us, as we have never explored this biological pool accompanied by so many experienced colleagues, evaluating every detail of the project and asking many technical questions.

During the trip to the conference, most of the participants joined a 2-day rally from Lisbon to Albufeira, guided by Carla Couto from SHB, visiting several  biological pools of tourist and private use during their journey through the Alentejo.
