Autumn paints the landscape with other colors, brown, dark green, yellow and dark red dominate. Within this new color scheme, the biological pool surprises with its crystalline waters. The water temperature is already reaching low levels, so much so that the biological pool is no longer inviting for diving, at least in large parts of the country. In the south, the situation is different, and the bravest still dare to jump into the icy waters, but for relatively short visits.

Life in the biological pool doesn’t stop, but it’s quite slow because of the lack of light on the shortest days of the year and the lack of temperature. Some plants are preparing to hibernate, like water lilies, and go to the bottom. Others, from the margins, turn brown and can be pruned during the winter. Thus, the end of autumn is a time to carry out the maintenance of the biological pool with pruning and vacuuming, both measures very apt to reduce and export biomass from the system. Or as a client of ours said “in winter the biological pool is prepared for the next bathing season”. And he’s right, because it already has a biological swimming pool for tourist use since 20 years.
